Ayssette Muñoz
Actress & Freelancer
Ayssette Muñoz was born and raised in Mcallen, TX and has been currently living in Chicago, IL for almost 2 years. She grew up extremely shy with a special interest in sharing other peoples stories instead of her own. Today, she is a professional actress sharing her story. Her goals for the future are to join the Actors’ Equity Association and to become Ensemble Member for some of her favorite companies. She hopes to be an actress that Latino’s will look up to and be inspired by.
She is represented by Paonessa Talent Agency and is an Artistic Associate with Teatro Vista, an equity theatre that has been around since 1990, specifically created to address the lack of opportunities for Latino artists and other artists of color. She has had the pleasure of performing alongside Sandra Marquez, the 2014 Jeff Winner for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her performance in A View from the Bridge by Arthur Miller. Muñoz was also recognized by Chris Jones in the Chicago Tribune for her own performance (read the article here: Teatro Vista's 'Bridge' Makes Connections) for her role in A View from the Bridge by Arthur Miller.
Ayssette has had the honor of working the Chicago theatre scene through Teatro Vista, but has also worked professionally at the Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival, in San Francisco with Teatro Luna (Chicago’s All Latina Theatre Company,) and has worked at the Los Angeles Theatre Center for their very first Latino Theatre Festival. This is all thanks to the training she obtained from her Bachelors in Acting from Oklahoma City University; the same university Wicked’s Kristin Chenoweth obtained her Master’s.
For fun, Ayssette loves traveling, photography, makeup, collecting records, online shopping, and cheering for the Chicago Bulls. Her favorite playwrights are William Shakespeare, Anton Chekhov, Tracy Letts, & Arthur Miller. She enjoys working with preschool children and introducing them to preschool level Shakespeare!

“Ayssette Munoz, a newcomer who hails from Texas and here is costumed beautifully by Christine Pascual, makes for a very warm-centered Catherine, a young and needy woman who has hitherto enjoyed her complex relationship with Eddie, including his barely muted desire. But she also shows some teeth where she must, all adding up to a potent sense of combustible passions on different tracks. This is the first time Munoz's name has appeared in this newspaper; it won't, I think, be the last.” - Chris Jones |
