What exactly is a society? Well, one of the many definitions, according to Webster, is "a voluntary association of individuals for common ends; especially : an organized group working together or periodically meeting because of common interests, beliefs, or profession." This is the sort of definition I had in mind when I had the idea for Global Genius Society. It was my dream to somehow put together a collection of artists who would work together, meet, associate themselves with one another, network and learn about the talented people of the world through an organization based on some sort of common interests or talents.
When I started to tell people about my dream and what I wanted to do, many called me crazy. Many said there was no way it would happen. Many said I was wasting my time. Of course people said it was absolutely ridiculous and they couldn't comprehend why a "regular person" such as myself could have such wild and imaginative dreams. They couldn't see how I found comfort in calling myself a genius, not in arrogance, but in strong appreciation for the talent, aspirations and goals I feel God has bestowed upon me.
This society is NOT about me, though. It is about us! This society is to show the world what we can do together! This society is about not only accepting, but embracing all of those times we've been called nerds, dorks or geeks. This is about those seeing that we were different than many others and not accepting us because of it. This is for us feeling comfortable in our skin and in our talents. This is a society that will allow us to show the world our art and for us all to be proud of one another in the process!
Let it be known, I don't take this organization, society members or even this site lightly at all! As I stated, this is a dream come true for me and I appreciate everyone taking part in this dream. I thank you for grasping on to the concept and I pray we are all happy as we start to see the progress.
We all are witnessing the birth of a society, a Global Genius Society.
